Nico O'Reilly Bows Out of England Squad Due to Injury
1 October 2026
Nico O'Reilly, who represented England in the 2026 World Cup, has stepped away from the national team for their final Nations League matches this international break due to an injury.
After playing the entire match in England's close 3-2 loss to Spain, the left-back was sidelined for Tuesday's 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic.
O'Reilly has now returned to Manchester City for further evaluation, which means he will miss the upcoming clash against Croatia on Saturday and the rematch with the Czechs on Tuesday.
England has decided not to bring in any replacements for O'Reilly.
In his absence, Lewis Hall took over against the Czech Republic, and the Newcastle United left-back showed good chemistry with his former teammate Anthony Gordon down the left side.
